Project: Breathe Easy – Innovating for Clean Air

What Students Will Do: Investigate local air quality challenges and design and build a functional DIY air purifier. Prototypes created will be installed at schools in Sumatra, where haze is a critical issue for students.

The Impact: Students will apply scientific understanding of air pollution and respiratory health, develop engineering skills, and create a tangible solution that contributes to immediate community well-being. This project highlights their role in creating healthier living spaces.

Project: Water Wisdom – Designing for Sustainable Water

What Students Will Do: Dive deep into local hydrology, designing and, actively participating in constructing infiltration wells to replenish Bali’s underground aquifers. Five wells will be constructed with the communities in Sangeh and Pangsan Villages in Bali, areas significantly affected by landslides due to water runoff.
The Impact: Students will engage with critical issues of water security and flood mitigation, applying scientific and mathematical principles to real-world environmental infrastructure. This project fosters a deep appreciation for water as a vital resource and teaches practical steps for its sustainable management.

Project: Roots of Resilience – Cultivating Regenerative Agroforestry

What Students Will Do: Design and establish a regenerative agroforestry plot, including a hands-on planting trip to a dedicated site. They will use portable microscopes for up-close soil science observations. Student teams will actually plant the trees based on their design, to support smallholder farmers in Kintamani, Bali, in transforming their current monocrop, chemically intensive practices into a Regenerative Agroforestry System.

The Impact: This immersive experience teaches about sustainable food systems, biodiversity, and soil health. Students will develop a profound connection to the land, understanding how to cultivate abundance while regenerating ecosystems, all while observing the intricate biology beneath their feet.

Project: Digital Seeds of Change – Building Our Impact Platform

What Students Will Do: Utilize no-code tools to design and build an app or website that showcases all the year's projects, promoting their replication and advocating for wider community action. The created platform will include photos and videos edited by the students, and will be actually published online.

The Impact: Students will become digital innovators, developing essential skills in UI/UX design, content curation, and digital advocacy. They will learn to leverage modern technology to share powerful stories and inspire others to contribute to a more sustainable and equitable world.

We are also incredibly pleased to welcome David Garcia to our team. David, a British and Spanish citizen currently living in Bali, brings extensive international school experience, including his previous role at Green School Bali. He holds a Master's Degree in Management, Innovation, and Leadership in Educational Institutions and possesses IB certifications, including the Personal Project Coordinator. He has experience leading different grade levels, teaching English, Mathematics, and Project-Based programs. David is a humble, hard-working leader and lifelong learner, advocating for an innovative, international, and individualized education focused on developing students' personal gifts and life skills through projects that solve world problems and give back to the community. His background from international schools in London, Barcelona, Ho Chi Minh City, and Nanjing perfectly aligns with our vision for skill development and global pathways.


David shares his personal philosophy on education with us:
"I am a father of three daughters, and my wife is a Hypnobirthing Childbirth Educator. In our family, we believe education starts from the day families know they will have a baby. As parents, we all have a responsibility to provide foundational education at home for our children and work closely with the schools where we enrol them to provide the best support for their development. Schools should be a community and learning hub where all stakeholders in the community have a voice and work together to provide the best education possible for our children. My goal is to support the school and community in developing a wonderful and meaningful community and learning hub in Ubud. I look forward to meeting each of you soon."
